Just How Popular Are Hot Dogs In America?

Hot dogs are insanely popular in America and Montana. They are the perfect backyard barbecue food because they are quick and easy, don't require much clean up, and can even be eaten without a plate.

According to The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, every year Americans eat almost 20 billion hot dogs; that's just about 70 per person each year.

So if we're going to eat that many hot dogs each year, it's a shame that one of the most disgusting and all around bad for you hot dogs is sold right here in Montana.

They found that Ball Park Prime Uncured Beef Franks were the worst and probably the most unhealthy due to the fact that just one hot dog contains 35% of your daily recommended amount of sodium.

So what is a hot dog aficionado supposed to eat instead? Well, Bon Appetit taste tested some of the most popular brands, and they found Nathan's Skinless Beef Franks to be the best tasting. Plus, they have half the sodium content with only 17% of your daily recommended amount.
