ICE Enforcement Operations Draw Attention in Gallatin County

Federal immigration enforcement operations in Gallatin County are drawing plenty of attention across Montana.

That's after reports surfaced detailing dozens of arrests at multiple job sites in and around Bozeman.

Bozeman ICE Operations Reportedly Detain More Than 100 People

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, better known as ICE, carried out several enforcement operations in recent days.

While ICE has not released an official number of arrests, the Chronicle reports that advocates and local officials believe well over 100 people may have been detained during the operations.

The enforcement actions reportedly took place at multiple businesses and construction sites, leaving many workers, employers, and families searching for answers in the days that followed.

As word quickly spread across social media, demonstrations were planned and then held over the holiday weekend, with community members gathering to express concern over the impact on local families.

Questions Remain As DHS Stays Silent

The community has really come together to help, according to Bienvenidos, a local nonprofit immigrant resource center. The organization has been collecting and distributing boxes of groceries and other essential supplies, such as diapers, to immigrant families frightened to leave their homes due to the recent enforcement actions.

As of now, the Department of Homeland Security has not publicly responded to questions about the operations or released additional details regarding the number of people detained.
