Flying In America Has Changed Since 9/11

If you are of a certain age you may remember the days of walking into an airport (perhaps even while smoking a cigarette) and just boarding the plane.

Today, you need to arrive hours before you flight, go through multiple check points and ensure you don't have anything dangerous on you or in your bags.

While there are plenty of people out there who are afraid of flying, I absolutely love it.  I love to people watch during layovers and I enjoy reaching my destination is just hours instead of days.

The one thing I don't love about traveling by plane is packing. I am notorious for waiting until the night before and then just stuffing it all into a backpack.

While you won't get into any trouble if all you pack is clothes, there are plenty of items you can't pack either in your carry-on or in your checked bag as well. Like guns, which it seems plenty of people flying out of Montana try to get away with.
