I'll be honest, I love going to thrift stores to see what kind of items I can find.

Not only do I love to shop at thrift stores, I also donate plenty as well as I just don't like the idea of throwing something away.

The winter months means more time inside, which also means you have plenty of time to de-clutter your home.

Perhaps you've thought instead of posting an item or two that you're looking to get rid of on Facebook Marketplace or eBay and dealing with the meet up or shipping, you'll just donate to Goodwill.

I've never had this happen to me when donating, but depending on the item you're trying to donate Goodwill will just say "thanks, but no thanks."

Why Does Goodwill Turn Down Donations?

You may be wondering "why would they turn down any donations?"

There is a good reason that they are picky when it comes to what they will accept.

According to the Goodwill website,

Goodwill employees may decline a donation if it is not in clean or in saleable condition or if they are unable to assist with larger items due to risk of injury. Our employees often help unload donations, however cannot help if (in their judgement) doing so may damage any vehicle, or if doing so is unsafe for them or anyone else.

We are unable to accept the following due to legal or liability risks, safety or hazardous/universal waste concerns, recycling and/or disposal fees:
