Apparently This Is The Most Affordable Place In Montana

The last two years have seen Montana become one of, if not the most, unaffordable places in America.

With the Montana State Legislature set to reconvene again in 2025, there is some hope that the cost of living, especially property taxes, will be addressed as some folks worry they're being priced out of the state they love.

Can You Guess Which Place In Montana Is The Most Affordable To Live In?

You'd have to have your head buried in the sand to not realize that the cost of basically everything in America has gone up, and there are no signs that prices are about to go down anytime soon.

While our bank accounts have definitely felt the pain, it's still on average less expensive to live in the Treasure State than other states.

That's according to the website 24/7 Wall Street, which recently published an article entitled "The Most Affordable Place to Live in Each State."

Montana's Most Affordable Place To Live

24/7 Wall Street didn't narrow down the towns that were the most affordable, but instead went with the counties in each state that were most affordable.

See if you know what county they are talking about by these statistics:

  • Est. cost of living in county: 16.9% less expensive than US avg.
  • Est. cost of living in state: 9.7% less expensive than US avg.
  • Median household income: $51,791 ($66,341 statewide)
  • Median home value: $172,000 ($305,700 statewide)

The county they say is the most affordable is Chouteau County, which is home to Fort Benton, Geraldine, and Big Sandy, to name a few.

What do you think? Is this really the most affordable place in Montana? Will Montana ever become affordable again? Sound off on our app or email me your opinion.
