What Awesome Montana City Is The Most LGBTQ+ Friendly?

It may not seem like Montana (especially as of late) is very accepting of our LGBTQ+ residents, but we want you to know that we see you.
Thankfully there is one city in Montana that is VERY accepting to the LGBTQ+ community and has for a long time been a safe space.
The Thrillist website looked at each state that is considered a "red" state to find the city that was the most friendly to LGBTQ+ members.
We're happy to report that this city scored over a 100 on the Municipal Equality Index in 2022.
That means this city ranked high on non-discrimination laws, the municipality as an employer, municipal services, law enforcement and leadership on LGBTQ+ equality.

Missoula, MT
I don't think it should come as any surprise to long time residents to hear that Missoula is the most friendly LGBTQ+ city in Montana.
Always seen as a blue dot in a sea of red, Missoula has long been considered a progressive town.
Missoula is home to the Western Montana LGBTQ+ Community Center which opened in 2000. That was a full 15 years before Great Falls opened their own.
Missoula was the first city to pass municipal anti-discrimination laws in the state as well.

It may seem that we're going backwards instead of forwards when it comes to acceptance lately, but honestly we've got more people that are active and outspoken than ever before.
