How Much Are You Paying For Eggs?

You may have seen some memes on social media lately talking about how expensive eggs are.

Perhaps you thought it was all fun and games, but have you looked at the price of a dozen eggs lately? Holy smokes, eggs are clucking expensive right now.

What Is The Reason For High Egg Prices?

I asked our listeners how much they were paying for a dozen eggs, and after doing math for the first time in over 20 years, I figured it was just over 6 dollars for a dozen eggs in Great Falls.

That's not too far off from the $5.46 per dozen that World Population Review says was the average cost for a dozen eggs in Montana at the end of 2024, which is a 55% increase.

There are plenty of reasons for the increase in egg prices. The biggest reason is the avian flu affecting nearly 102.6 million egg-laying hens, according to this story from Nerd Wallet.

What Is Cheaper To Buy Than Eggs?

So it got me thinking what could you buy right now for less than it would cost to buy a dozen eggs? I think I came up with a pretty good list of things right now that will cost you less to purchase than the cost of eggs. It might be outdated by next week, or it might even be a bigger steal if the price continues to go up.

Who knows, you might even be able to buy some of these things and trade them for a dozen or so eggs from your local "crazy chicken lady" that I keep reading about on Facebook.
