Film Industry Brought A Whopping 334 Million To Montana
Love it or hate it, the television show Yellowstone has been an absolute sensation and has put Montana in the spotlight.
Many will argue that this is negative since we now see an influx of out-of-state residents flooding the communities, which many folks chalk up to, causing higher home prices.
However, the recent film produced in the Treasure State has a positive aspect.
Film Industry Impacts On Montana
According to a recent report released to the Montana Legislature, the film industry spent over $334 million from July 2022 through mid-May 2024.
You may not like the attention the film industry brings to the state but no one can argue that the money flooding in is a bad thing.

During the same time frame, 167 productions were filmed in Montana, and according to the report, the filming created over 1300 jobs.

State of Montana MEDIA
In 2019, the Montana Legislature passed the Montana Economic Development Act or MEDIAAct.
This act provided an income tax incentive, which was available to film, television, and other media production and post production that took place here in the treasure state.
To take place between July 1 of 2019 through 2029.
The program provides a 20% transferable tax credit on expenditures within Montana..
Incentives can increase the credits up to 35%.
