Mailing A Letter In Montana Is Getting More Expensive

There is hardly a day that goes by where I don't encounter something that has become unreasonably expensive.

From food to housing, prices have skyrocketed over the last few years.

And to add insult to injury, the cost of a letter is increasing for the second time in just six short months.

Historic Stamp Prices

It's crazy to think about, but ten years ago, it cost less than 50 cents to send a letter.

Now, it's nearly 70 cents. If you have some time, check out the website Johnston Archive. Click Here.

This website compares the price of a stamp to the adjusted inflation.

Proposed Stamp Price Increase

On April 9th, 2024, the United States Postal Service announced that it had filed a notice with the Postal Regulatory Commission to change the price of a stamp yet again.

If the price hike is approved, it will take effect on July 14th of, 2024.

The proposed increase is five cents and would take the price of a First-Class Mail Forever stamp from 68 cents to 73 cents.
