Remember that wild shootout between police and a suspect back on March 7 where one Great Falls Police Officer was injured?  We have now obtained exclusive details on how it all went down that day.

According to charging documents in the case against Jacob Bradley,  it says officer Tanner Lee confronted Bradley in the alley along 6th Avenue South near 12th Street around 3:50pm.  Police were searching for Bradley after he took off on foot a few minutes earlier after a traffic stop.  Lee tells investigating officers "it all happened really fast."  According to what we've learned from one source,  Bradley was able to get off at least four rounds at officer Lee.  One hit Lee dead center in his bullet proof vest, two others missed and a fourth struck Lee in his right arm and then lodged in his vest.

This is actual testimony from the charging documents.

Ultimately, he heard gunshots and then felt the impact of one in his chest. He recalled hearing at least two gunshots, but when he went to reach for his own handgun his arm was not working, referring to his right arm (Officer Lee had been shot in the right arm). He didn’t feel any pain or even realize at the time that his arm was shot, but he concluded that the best way to live and survive this incident was to retreat since he could not get to his own sidearm.

Lee was rushed by a police patrol car right to the hospital.  luckily he is recovering but will most likely need more surgeries in the months ahead.

Bradley then took off running west in the alley where moments later, he was confronted by another Great Falls Police Officer.  According to an investigative report done by the state, Bradley pointed the gun at the officer who immediately opened fire on Bradley.  Bradley was hit in the head but he has survived and is recovering.  According to one of our sources,  the officer fired three rounds with one hitting Bradley in the head. The other two apparently missed the intended target.  This officer has not been identified in the reports.

Today,  charges have been filed in Cascade County District Court charging Bradley with one count of attempted deliberate homicide which carries a life sentence.  Once details are worked out in court before a judge,  Bradley is expected to be returned to Cascade County from the infirmary at the State Prison in Deer Lodge.  At the time of the shooting he was out on parole.

Also arrested in the case was a Nikki Snell. She has already pleaded guilty to several charges in federal court and will be sentenced later this year.
