Shipping In Great Falls Just Became Much Harder
When it comes to sending and receiving packages in Montana, we are on a bit of an island.
There are no major service centers, limited delivery points, and dwindling resources on a local level.
And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but resources are continuing to dwindle right here in Great Falls.
UPS In Great Falls
Prior to July 1, 2024, there were five locations in Great Falls where packages could be shipped through UPS.
The UPS store on 10th Ave South, four access point locations, and the main customer service center located across the highway from the airport at 5000 Tri Hill Frontage Road.
The UPS store on 10th Ave., South, is fantastic but insanely busy, so needless to say, it takes a hot minute to ship a package from this location.
I've never used any of the points other than to drop off a package already labeled and ready to ship, so I'm not sure what it's like to go to one of these locations and create a shipment from scratch.
Four of the locations listed above are fine for basic sending and receiving of packages.
However, you must work with a Corporate UPS Facility when shipping uncommon items, such as firearms.
UPS Customer Service Location: Great Falls
Earlier this week, I found myself in a situation where I needed to ship an uncommon item, so as I've done so many times, I made my way to the UPS customer service location on the frontage road.
Upon walking in the door, I was greeted by a sign that said that the UPS customer service location is no longer shipping packages.
Yes, you could create a label at home and drop it off, but when it comes to actually creating a shipment from scratch, this facility can no longer help.
Let that settle in for a minute... A corporate UPS facility designated as a customer service center cannot create a shipment.
I was told that Corporate UPS is literally removing the computer and printer that was used to create shipments and print labels.
I can't be the only one who thinks this has got to be the stupidest/craziest thing I've ever heard.
After chatting with the employee at the counter, the closure boils down to corporate cutbacks.
So, when shipping odd items through UPS in Great Falls, good luck, my friend!
