One of the greatest things about Montana is that really, no matter where you live, you have the ability to enjoy everything that the great outdoors can offer to you.  You don't have to live in the country to enjoy camping, hunting, hiking or fishing.  They are seriously out the back door of pretty much every household.

Growing Up in the Highwoods and Fishing for Pan Fry Brookies

My experiences as a child growing up in the Highwood Mountains enabled me to learn how to fish.  Mostly from my grandfather as we checked cattle across the area.  Fishing in Upper Highwood Creek, Thane Creek and Pollad Creek all bring back fond memories and I even taught my son and grandson how to fish those streams.  It's a right of passage that each child should have the experience to get, especially if they maybe don't have the means to do so.

Fish On This Weekend with FWP & Walleyes Unlimited in Great Falls

This weekend in Great Falls, the Fish, Wildlife and Parks Department along with Walleyes Unlimited of Great Falls host the annual fishing derby at Wadsworth Park.  Kids Fishing Day includes giveaways for free rod and reel combos plus a tackle box.  They will also offer hot dogs, soda and water for everyone.  Prizes will be awarded for the top 3 biggest fish.  Activities will start at 9am this Saturday on June 3rd.

The great thing is you don't need to have a license for this event and there is no age limit, however the activities are geared towards youngsters and learning how to fish.  If you want to find out more, call Robbi at 406-590-6565 or Brenda at 406-868-2676.
