Heart Butte Fire Department Vandalized, Equipment Reported Missing

I've never quite understood the mindset of a criminal. Especially those criminals who choose vandalism and breaking into buildings like businesses or homes. I might have a grudge or two with some folks, but never have I thought about taking a hammer to their stuff.

That goes for stealing things also. I know exactly what it feels like to walk out to my rig to find someone else thought breaking windows out and taking things was ok. I can't imagine what the Heart Butte, Montana Fire Department is experiencing right now after a weekend break in at their station.

Heart Butte Fire Department Vandalized, Information Being Sought

On August 8, 2026, fire station personnel arrived to find the back door of the facility kicked in. Upon entry, it was discovered that a person or persons proceeded to vandalize and destroy the interior rooms.

Upon further investigation, staff also observed cabinets being ransacked in the kitchen area along with more destruction.

More Vandalism on Equipment at Heart Butte Fire Station in Montana

Among the worst damage to the station includes the loss of firefighting equipment, and possible damage to station vehicles and equipment. On social media, the Browning Fire Rescue said that:

It feels like a slap in the face to every firefighter who has spent countless hours training, responding to calls, maintaining equipment, and standing ready to help someone on what may be the worst day of their life.

The department is asking for the public's help stating that any "information from anyone who may know something about this incident. If you saw anything suspicious around the Heart Butte Fire Hall or have information that could help investigators, please come forward."
