I am certainly not a huge fan of reality television, but I will admit that some of the cooking shows are a blast to watch.  And as someone that loves to cook, as does my wife, we enjoy seeing creations come alive from every day normal ingredients.

If you have lived in Montana for a period, you've probably run across an Indian Taco or two.  Or more.  Native American roots are deep in our state, and helping preserve those Indigenous recipes is a Montana chef who is hoping to bring them to more people competing on a familiar television food stage.

Food Network Contestant from Montana to Appear in Great Falls

Native Montanan and chef Mariah Gladstone will be competing on the Food Network's new show titled "Chopped: Indigenous Inspirations", airing on the Food Network on April 21, 2026, at 10pm Mountain Time.

Gladstone is the creator of Indigikitchen, an online cooking show that is "dedicated to re-indigenizing our diets using digital media. Using foods native to their Americas, Indigikitchen gives viewers the important tools they need to find and prepare food in their own communities" according to their website.

Gladstone to Appear at Great Falls Public Library Free Event on April 28th

Following her appearance on the Food Network show, Ms. Gladstone will be in Great Falls on April 28, 2026, for a presentation at the Great Falls Public Library.  The event, entitled "A Taste of Indigenous Foods at the Charlie Cart", runs from 6pm to 7pm.

The event is free and open to the public to attend at the library.  Gladstone will be featuring one of her personal recipes being prepared and feature other indigenous foods that are easily preparable.  You can learn more about the event here.
