Holiday Shipping Prices to Change for Holidays in Montana
Holidays are approaching, and the hustle and bustle of getting ready for the jolly old guy to wiggle down the fireplace will be getting under way. Pretty soon, many will be hitting stores to find the perfect gift for a loved one.
But if your loved one, family member or friends aren't in the same town as you, and you love sending presents in the mail for them, hold up. You should be budgeting a few more dollars to send those packages with the United States Postal Service this holiday.

Holiday Shipping Prices to Change for Holidays in Montana
Shipping costs are going to be taking a little jump in the next few days with the USPS announcing "temporary price hikes" in order to cover the costs during the peak season of shipping in Montana and beyond.

The cost increases begin October 5, 2025, through January 18, 2026, and will be affecting most of the available ways to ship with USPS including:
- Flat rate boxes - +$1.45 for large and .90 for others
- Express - add $1.10 for light and up to $16 for heavy
Commercial customers will also see increases to each of those categories as well, including flat rate boxes going to from an extra $1.25 for large and express shipping could see increases to $13 depending on weight.
Holiday Shipping Deadlines for USPS in Montana and the U.S.
If you are thinking of shipping gifts for the holidays this year, grab your calendar and mark the following dates on it to ensure your packages arrive on time in the lower 48:
- December 17 for first class mail and ground advantage
- December 18 for priority mail
- December 20 for priority mail express
