In December of 2018 The Morony Natatorium Closed For Good in Great Falls

The Nat, as it was known by locals, had fallen into disrepair, and was closed to the public in 2018.

In 2020, The City Of Great Falls Announced Plans For A New Aquatic And Recreation Center

From Non-Stop Local and The Electric, the construction started in 2021, and Great Falls has been anxiously awaiting the new facility.

The facility is 45 thousand square feet, has a recreation pool, lap pool, fitness center, gym. walking track, locker rooms and party rooms.  They also have features in place for military training, making it a place for Malmstrom personnel to train.

The City of Great Falls received a 10 million dollar grant from the US Department of Defense for the project.  The city matched that 10 million dollars.

The Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic and Recreation Center Is In Lions Park

According to The Electric, Scheels donated a million dollars to the city of Great Falls for the center.  The funds were used to help equip the new facility and provide scholarships for families to join who need help to gain membership.

The city agreed to name the facility The Scheels Aim High Big sky Aquatic Center for 20 years due to the donation.

The Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic And Recreation Center To Open Soon

The new construction is set to open in just a couple of months, May 2024.  When The Scheels Aim High Big Sky Aquatic And Recreation Center opens, the City of Great falls plans to close the Community Rec Center in downtown Great Falls.
