Montana's winter was a long one this year. We had snow at the beginning of October and it didn't let up until late in April, depending on where you live in the state. This spring has been a season of ups and downs. We have had record warm temperatures this spring in parts of Montana. There are some predictions that we will be in for a hotter and drier summer. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, we may see a little bit of everything in Montana this summer, depending on where you live.

Montana's Weather Falls Into Two Zones

As you can see by the map, Montana falls into two different zones when it comes to weather. The Eastern portion of the state is in the "High Plains" zone. The Western portion of the state falls into what they call the "Intermountain" zone. These zones are both forecasted to have different weather patterns this summer.

Montana May See Cooler Weather or Hotter Weather Depending Where You Live

The "High Plains" forecast for the Eastern part of the state is predicting a "hotter and drier" summer. The forecast for the Western part of the state has a different prediction. It is calling for a "slightly cooler than average, with rainfall above average" this Summer.

Montana's Governor Gianforte met with fire officials this week to be briefed on the upcoming fire season in Montana. The fire season and farming in Montana are both very dependent on the weather. We will just have to see if the forecasts for the summer are correct.
