The folks over at Bluefield Reality put together a list of the most expensive states to call home, and what won't be a shocker to anyone, Montana made the list. In fact, Montana made the Top 5. What might be a little surprising are the states listed above Montana.

According to the data, the price of a luxury home here in Big Sky Country comes with an average price of around 1.8 million dollars. Now, keep in mind that this is an average for the entire state. 1.8 million in Billings will get you a lot more than 1.8 million in Bozeman will.
I mentioned that Montana made the Top 5 for the most expensive states to call home, and that's true. In fact, we are ranked 4th on the list.
It certainly won't come as a shock that California takes the top spot. The average price of a luxury home in California will cost you just over $4 million. Coming in 2nd place is Hawaii, where the average price of a luxury home will set you back a little over $3.5 million.
So, which state ranks 3rd? Florida? Texas? New York? Great guesses, but they're all wrong.
Coming in 3rd is the great state of Wyoming. Yep, according to the statistics, Wyoming is more expensive than Montana, at least when it comes to luxury properties. How much will a luxury property in the Cowboy State cost you? The data says you'll pay a price of just over $2.2 million.
