It's been just over two weeks since an altercation at America's Wild West left a 21-year-old Billings man dead. The shooting occurred in the parking lot of the nightclub right around closing time on February 12, 2023. The Billings Police Department shared details via Twitter.

A follow-up Tweet reported that the suspect, 18-year-old Xavier Buffalo was arrested and charged with Deliberate Homicide and Tampering with Evidence. As of 3/1, Buffalo remains in custody at the Yellowstone County Detention Facility with a $250,000 bond.

The family of the victim has filed a lawsuit.

Beau Beaumont's estate has now filed a lawsuit against the owners of America's Wild West, according to a press release we received from AVA Law Group. The law firm alleges the bar violated the law by serving alcohol to the underage suspect. In addition, the suit alleges the Wild West also violated several duties which all tavern owners owe to their patrons, including the duty to provide adequate safety, and not tolerate "disorderly conditions" among other allegations. Not the first shooting on America's Wild West premises.

One murder is one too many. Unfortunately, this most recent violent assault is not the first at the Wild West. We covered two shootings that occurred within a span of just a few weeks in April and May of 2022. According to a recent story by KTVQ, the Billings Police Department responded to a whopping 194 calls to the bar from January 1, 2022, to February 13, 2023.  Attorney Teague Westrope of AVA Law Group said in the press release,

Beau's death is a tragedy which never should have happened. Xavier Buffalo pulled the trigger, but he is not the only one who bears responsibility for Beau's death. For this reason, Beau's family is bringing this lawsuit to hold the owners of America's Wild West accountable for their part.

Friends and family of Beaumont would like to see the bar shut down. Many are also questioning the bar's current policy of allowing people 18 and up, instead of 21 like most bars.
