Scary Video Of Snowmobilers Getting Caught in Montana Avalanche

This video is one of the main reasons I don't plan on heading into the backcountry of Montana anytime soon. 

Montanans and outdoor enthusiasts love exploring the backcountry and all the activities you can enjoy. People love going hiking and camping, but during the winter, people tend to go cross-country skiing or snowmobiling.

Exploring the backcountry during the winter can be dangerous at times. With constant changes in weather and conditions, you could have a nice day and suddenly get caught up in a terrible blizzard or an avalanche. 

This scenario happened to a group of snowmobilers at the Daisy Pass near Cooke City. Check out the scary video below. 

As you can see, the snowmobilers got caught in a full-fledged avalanche. One rider rode through the avalanche, and the other two were buried in the deep snow. 

According to the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center, one of the riders was alright, but the other snowmobiler sustained possibly life-threatening injuries. Search & Rescue got to their location and took the injured rider to the hospital. 

These riders were fortunate to be able to reach the authorities and get the help they desperately needed. We hear stories of people dying in these types of scenarios too often. 

With the weather warming up and conditions constantly changing, please be careful when heading into the backcountry. One of the best sources is the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center.
