Montana Ranks in Top 5 for ‘Least Diverse’ in America

When I first moved to Montana, I had a vague idea of what to expect: cold winters, lots of open land, cows, and mountains.

That's about it! Everything else I went into with an open mind. I never did though, pay any attention to how diverse Montana is... or isn't according to some studies.

Montana Among The "Least Diverse" States in America

Now, I know some might think this study defines "diverse" under one umbrella but that's not the case.

According to the study done by WalletHub, they considered factors beyond race and ethnicity like "cultures, religions, economic statuses, educational backgrounds and other characteristics."

With all of those things considered, Montana ranked 46th in the country for diversity, only ahead of Vermont (47), New Hampshire (48), Maine (49), and West Virginia (50).

But it's not all bad! Montana ranked 6th in "Worker-Class Diversity", 7th in "Industry Diversity", and 4th in "Household Income Diversity."

Hey, a win's a win, am I right?

Is More Diversity Coming to Montana?

It's quite possible! Think about how many big companies and businesses are eyeing Montana as their next destination. Janicki alone is expected to be massive for Great Falls and that doesn't even touch the impact Amazon has had or the Sentinel Project.

And quite honestly, I think Montana is only going to continue to grow.

Whether we like it or not, get ready - more diversity is coming to the state, and I feel that should be celebrated.
