The Montana State fair is over and everyone had a great time. Food, rides, 4H, concerts, rodeo and horse racing. With all of that went on, who could ask for more? I'm sure plenty of people as August is unofficial festival season here in Montana.

There's the many fairs in different counties in Montana including the Montana fair in Billings, Eastern Montana Fair in Miles City, MT, the Chouteau County Fair in Fort Benton, MT, and the Western Montana fair in Missoula packed with plenty events such as rides, concerts, livestock shows, baking, cooking and fabric contests.

Maybe your thing is the fair food, there's tons of different combinations to choose from not to mention the local things only available during that specific fair, like the famous Viking. The Viking is something you can find almost everywhere and enjoy the various sizes and recipes Montana has to offer, and in all cases are pretty tasty.

There are also many festivals here in Big Sky country that one could enjoy to close out summer before you or your kids head back to school. If you time it just right, you could make it a worth while road trip.

One such festival is Rockin' The Rivers just outside of Three Forks, MT which starts Thursday. For over 20 years they've been rocking and they have the wildest and most dedicated crowd. If you're down to party, DO NOT miss Rockin' The Rivers.

Next is the Headwaters Country Jam in Three Forks, MT. 3 days of the best that country music has to offer with scenic Montana draped right behind. Good food, music and family fun.

The River City Roots Festival has been in downtown Missoula for 16 years and has country, bluegrass and blues bands gather from across the country and sometimes the world. It consists of three parts over three days.

Friday is Music On Main, Saturday is Roots Fest, and Sunday is Family Roots fest. Fun, music, art, culture and food for the whole family. If you're an entering freshman at the University of Montana seeing Missoula, MT for the first time, it's a perfect start in your new home.
